Summer Camps focused on building a ‘Participatory Church’

Numerous Youth Camp facilitated by the pastoral center named Bukal ng Tipan aims to build a ‘Participatory Church,’ a program aligned with the Year the Parish theme: Communion of Communities.

Catering various audiences from elementary to young professionals, Bukal ng Tipan has organized seminars and workshops that targeted ‘to ignite youth participation not only in the parish church but to smaller Christian communities’ in different venues over the summer break.

In one of those summer camps, almost 80 youths from different parishes of Kalinga and Apayao joined the three-day “Color and Faith: Summer Youth Camp on Communion of Communities” held last March 30 to April 2 at Chair of St. Peter Parish in Pinukpok with Fr. Joseph Pumihic, CICM.

With the theme “Being at Home in the Parish as Communion of Communities,” Bishop Jun Andaya, CICM, reminded the youth that no home is bigger than the Church. Coming home to the Church as communion of communities equates with everyone’s faith in one God.

Andrew Velasquez, pastoral worker for the Youth Unit of Bukal ng Tipan reconunted some of tehir expereince in facilitating in one of the activities in Kalinga.

“Tribal war is strong in Kalinga culture but the youth camp became an instrument of the ‘tribal communion,’ Velasquez shared.

“…the participants became more aware of their roots, values, dream and love for their family in this post-modern life,” he added.

Other Youth Camps

Their team also organized a Lenten Summer Camp with the Amadeo Youth on Communion of Communities,” that focused on strengthening a community by giving worth to every individual.

“Up, Up and Away: Paliparan Youth Summer Camp on Communion of Communities” also shared the same objective.

In partnership with CICM priests Fr. Gary Brazas and Fr. Robertus Bijaksana, Emmaus Leadership Training at San Isidro Parish, Afga Sibagat, Mindanao was held last April 28 to 30.

In May 4 to 7, Bukal ng Tipan also established a program that teaches young adults how to face tomorrows through on the road retreats namely “Outbound Limits Singles Journey Byaheng Norte.”

  • Community Journey: One Heart, One Soul Summer Youth Camp St. Joseph Dagupan Parish Youth Ministry, Tabuk Kalinga (Kate Dolot)
